The design for this small Bakelite table lamp dates from the 1930s.
The small shade is clamped directly onto the bulb using clips, allowing it to be adjusted freely. There is a push-button switch on the base, and the fabric-covered cable is approximately 1.8 m long.
The bulb supplied can be dimmed to three brightness levels by quickly switching it on and off.
The Bakelite brand name became famous for the first synthetic, industrially produced plastic. This thermosetting plastic is electrically insulating and resistant to mechanical stress, heat and acid, making it highly suitable for lamps and other electrical components.
