Description

This design classic from 1958 is manufactured in France based on a design by Pierre Guariche.

The round, dimmable table lamp creates a particularly atmospheric, warm ambience and is a stylish eye-catcher on the bedside table, sideboard or floor, even without the light effect.

Standing on four brass feet, it shines both downwards and upwards through the perforated sheet steel housing.

The brightness can be gently adjusted using a high-quality phase dimmer switch on the approximately 250 cm long cable. When using LED bulbs (we recommend frosted filament LED bulbs for even all-round light), please ensure that they are also dimmable.

This lamp is manufactured conscientiously and to uncompromising quality standards based on the original designs of French designer and interior architect Pierre Guariche, whose innovative lamp designs from the 1950s are still considered groundbreaking today. For more information, see the brochure on the Pierre Guariche lamp re-edition by Sammode Studio (PDF).

Beauty and functionality – not many designers bring these antipodes together as impressively as Frenchman Pierre Guariche (1926 - 1995). His Midcentury lights, which were created between 1951 and 1959, are innovatively designed with joy of experimentation, and on closer inspection turn out to be absolutely functional in every detail. The typical common feature of all Guariche lights are the hidden illuminants and the glare-free light flow by means of well thought-out reflectors and diffusers which provide atmospheric ambient light and give the lamp a sculptural appearance. While studying at the National School of Arts and Crafts in Paris, Guariche familiarized himself with the pioneers of modern industrial design and the concept of social rationalism. In 1959, he began with the production of his own lamps and furniture from a rented apartment, laying the foundation for an outstanding and influential career as a designer and architect. Today, Guariche's interior lights are being produced by traditional French manufacturer Sammode, which has had a reputation for impeccable functional lights since 1927. The only deviation from the original designs are amenities such as LED modules, dimmers and Bluetooth connection to the Casambi app.
