About the manufacturer

The Danish design label Astep is the enterprise of Alessandro Sarfatti, whose surname stands for Italian lighting design of the post-war period like no other. His grandfather Gino Sarfatti was a pioneering designer of countless, iconic lamps of the mid-century era and founded the company Arteluce in 1939. In 1978, Alessandro Sarfatti’s father Riccardo was successful with the lighting company Luceplan. Both Arteluce and Luceplan are synonyms for timeless design "made in Italy" and have produced a large number of luminaire classics that are now acquired at extremely high prices. Now, through his brand Astep, Sarfatti re-releases some of the most interesting classic Arteluce lighting models (designs by Gino Sarfatti and Vittoriano Viganò) and has them produced in Italy – partially updated in regards to recent lighting technology and with greatest concern to flawless quality.
